Indexat integrates staff experienced in indexing, copy editing, proofreading, project management and information management, and specialists from an established network experienced in editing, plain English editing and writing, and wine writing and consulting. This successful combination enables us to undertake large, diverse and innovative projects.

Caroline Colton (Director)
Caroline has over twenty years experience in the fields of information
management and social research. She has successfully integrated these
areas in a diverse range of fields taking a number of projects from conception
to marketing. In recent years she has focused on web design, indexing and classification

Kate Lyons-Dawson (Indexer & Proofreader)
Kate has had significant experience in information management in Australia, the UK, and the United States, in public, academic and specialist libraries. Her library work includes database management, cataloguing and classification, systems appraisal and thesaurus construction.
Kate's areas of responsibility have included the management and conservation of audiovisual collections and materials. She has held the position of project manager within an NGO, establishing an online database of resources on environmental and world development issues, as well as development and delivery of client training. In publications she has performed editing, abstract writing, and proofreading.
Her background and undergraduate qualifications are in fine arts, with postgraduate qualifications in information management. She successfully completed the indexing workshops run by UNSW and ANZSI. Kate indexes books and journals on many subjects including art, history, taxation and cooking. Previous indexing includes Guan Wei for the Sherman Galleries/Craftsman House, Mutant Media for Artspace and journals for the Taxation Institute of Australia.
Jo Lyons (Proofreader & Copy Editor)
Jo has recently joined the staff of indexat to provide copy editing and proofreading services to clients. Her experience includes books and annual reports including work for the NSW Ombudsman. She has also recently worked on producing art newsletters – one for a Wollongong art gallery and one for a TAFE institute. She has been involved at all levels of production, from researching and writing articles to editing and proofreading art documents.
She has undergraduate qualifications in Arts and Fine Arts, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Education (English/History). She successfully completed the professional proofreading and copy editing workshops run by the NSW Society of Editors.
Jo has a background as a secondary school English teacher and tutor. She has designed and implemented educational programs, devised lesson plans and units of work and has written and edited assessment documents. She has coordinated public speaking programs for students and has also presented English faculty workshops on various education topics.
Janice McLeod (Writer, Editor, Proofreader & Trainer)
Janice has a background in vocational education and training with a Masters degree in Education and has worked as a plain English consultant for the last thirteen years.
She has prepared and presented customised writing skills courses and programs for a range of staff from public and private sector organisations and researched, written and edited business and educational documents including major reports, training kits and policy manuals.
Her services include planning and implementing plain English policies, preparing in-house style guides, editing the content of web sites, and helping clients to communicate new policies, technical information and legislative requirements to both internal and external stakeholders. Toni Paterson (Consultant & Writer)
Fascinated by aromas and flavours from an early age, wine and food have been lifelong passions of Toni Paterson. Initially trained as a scientist, Toni quickly made the change to winemaking after studying for a Masters in Oenology. With six vintages under her belt, producing red, white and sparkling wine styles, Toni travelled to Europe where she worked in the promotion and marketing of Australian wine. Based in the UK, she undertook and passed the Masters of Wine examinations. Toni is now based in Sydney where she is working as a consultant and writer.
